Los Compadres Neighborhood Formation Meeting

Residents of the Los Compadres neighborhood, under the leadership of Christine Hammond, are in the early stages of organizing the neighborhood to become members of the Office of Neighborhood Involvement with the City of Palm Springs.

City of Palm Springs offering Lawn Buyback Incentive Program

Apply by November 1, 2011 for city funds to help offset the costs of replacing turf with desert friendly landscaping.

I think this is a wonderful program, and one that I hope is successful.  Find the application HERE

When we removed our front lawn just after we bought our home in '04, the city didn't offer any incentive programs to reduce water usage (as regards to landscaping).  It's nice to see that we're making progress in promoting conservation!

Palm Springs Farmers' Market

The Palm Springs Farmer's Market is open through the summer months!  If you're like me, this is great news.  They're able to do this by moving the Saturday morning event to inside the Palm Springs Mall.  When you go, enter at the main entrance to the mall, off Tahquitz Canyon Way.  When I was there this morning, it looked like most of the regular in-season vendors were there.  The date vendor was missing, though.  Maybe it's not date season?

Vendors are there until 12:30 every Saturday.  Buy fresh, pesticide-free veggies and fruit!  Plus, eggs, honey, soap and bread!
