The Palm Springs Planning Commission granted another 1 year extension to the developer of the Port Lawrence project located at Palm Canyon/Indian Canyon and Alejo. In the meantime, the city moves forward with the construction of a parking lot on the site. See the article in the Desert Sun.

Very sad. They couldn't wait to tear those buildings down and now we will have a giant parking lot forever. The PS Consignment shop and some other buildings were worth saving. All those businesses were lost.
It will be interesting to see how "temporary" the parking lot is. I'm sure that someday the site will be redeveloped, but I won't be surprised if it's quite a while. I would have much preferred for the former buildings, including the hotel, be refurbished.
