Palm Springs Art Museum

If you're skipping Coachella this year, maybe you want to hear a lecture series at our beautiful and fantastic Palm Springs Art Museum.

Here's a communication I received today:

2010/2011 Architecture and Design Council Lecture Series
Topic: Assembly as Medium
Lecturer: Jeanne Gang, Studio Gang Architects, Chicago
6 p.m. in the museum's Annenberg Theater, with a reception following.
$10 ADC members, $15 non-ADC members

Studio Gang Architects is a Chicago-based architecture and design firm led by Jeanne Gang. Recognized for innovative ideas centered on sustainability, Studio Gang's work has been published and exhibited worldwide, including at the International Venice Biennale, the National Building Museum in Washington, DC and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Studio Gange's outstanding projects include the celebrated Aqua Tower (pictured at left) which has was selected as the 2009 Skyscraper of the Year and was the AIA Chicago 2010 "Distinguished Building" Honor Award.

At 82 stories and over 1.9 million square feet, Aqua Tower is one of few high-rises in the world that creates a community on its façade. With a hotel, apartments, condominiums, parking, offices, and one of Chicago's largest green roofs, this multi-use tower demonstrates both architectural and technical achievements. Its outdoor terraces-which differ in shape from floor to floor based on criteria such as views, solar shading and dwelling size/type-create a strong connection to the outdoors and the city, as well as form the tower's distinctive undulating appearance.

This lecture is sponsored by the E. Stewart Williams Memorial Fund
